MagnaClean® Professional2XP™ Fits 1¼” NPT Iron Pipework to Combat Iron Oxide, Restoring Hydronic System Efficiency
ADEY® Introduces a Magnetic Filtration Solution for North America’s Most Common Pipe Size
PITTSBURGH, PA (AUGUST 01, 2017) – Iron oxide represents a serious problem for hydronic heating systems. Buildup of this damaging sludge can reduce heat transfer to the home by as much as 15 percent, and reduce boiler efficiency by up to 6 percent in only three weeks.*
This month, ADEY® introduces the MagnaClean® Professional2XP™, which virtually eliminates the problem.
“We expect this may well become our most popular filter yet,” says Director of U.S. Business Development, Tom Tonkins. “It’s designed to fit the most commonly used 1¼” NPT pipe size, and it can handle both large residential and light commercial applications.”
Vital to system maintenance, the MagnaClean Professional2XP is part of a five-step Best Practice™ process pioneered by ADEY. Each step in the system combats water quality issues to maintain total hydronic heating system health, optimizing system performance and efficiency.
Studies have shown that iron oxide comprises up to 95 percent of system debris.* On its own, it can block narrow waterways and foul the pump. When combined with lime scale, the two substances can form a hard, enamel-like coating that further clogs and narrows waterways inside hydronic systems, reducing efficiency and causing expensive damage. (For more information on the problem of iron oxide, see sidebar.)
The Solution: MagnaClean Professional2XP
Part of ADEY’s proven line of filters in Europe, MagnaClean Professional2XP was recently introduced to the North American market. Ideal for 1” copper and 1¼” NPT iron pipework, the magnetic filter features a powerful neodymium magnet that captures and eliminates within minutes of its installation nearly all of the suspended iron oxide sludge circulating in a system. The large-capacity canister also houses two non-magnetic capture zones for larger circulating debris.
MagnaClean Professional2XP can be easily fitted on the return pipe to the boiler/circulator, and features low-profile drain valves and built-in air vents for easier servicing.
“MagnaClean was originally developed by Chris Adey, who was himself a contractor,” says Tonkins. “Because Chris knew what was important to contractors, the design was developed with an eye toward ease of use, and practical installation features.”
In fact, the ingenious design of the filter has no moving parts. Instead, the filter works as water is forced in a cyclonic flow around the magnet simply by the shape and location of the inlet and outlet. Installation of the filter does not block or restrict flow, and pressure drop is minimal.
MagnaClean Professional2XP not only extends the operational life of the system, but also offers benefits that save money and time for installers and homeowners…
